Maple Shade

The Maple Shade Fire Department has been staffed completely by volunteers since 1912. We have an unlimited number of openings for volunteers. As a member of Maple Shade Fire Department, you will be faced with a multitude of challenges while you progress in your career. These challenges, if faced willingly, will lead you to a new, yet successful and rewarding lifestyle.
 
From Apparatus Drivers, to Interior Firefighters… Vehicle Rescue Technicians to Fire Police and The Ladies Auxiliary, our members are always doing their part to save lives, property and assist the community, thus affording our residents and visitors a safer and more comfortable way of life.
 
As a member of the department, you will be provided the necessary training, free of charge, so that once completed, you will be able to safely and effectively function as an integral member of the team.
 
If you are not interested in firefighting that’s okay too. We have many other opportunities to serve in the department and give back to the community.  
 
Types of membership with the Maple Shade Fire Department
 
Firefighter - Must be a minimum of 18 years of age. You will be trained in all aspects and duties of a firefighter free of charge. You will be required to successfully complete formal recruit firefighter training and pass a state written and practical examination, if not already certified. All protective clothing and equipment will also be provided free of charge.
 
Fire Police Officer - This classification of membership is required to direct traffic and provide crowd control and security in and around emergency incidents and training. You will be required to successfully complete State mandated training, if not already certified. You will be provided all necessary protective clothing and equipment free of charge.
 
Ladies Auxiliary – As a member of the Ladies Auxiliary you will assist the department by providing aid in the form of refreshments during prolonged emergencies as well as assist in other department functions throughout the year.
